I'm reading "Writers on Comics Scriptwriting" and Peter David had this to say:
"To a certain degree, failure is a goal in writing. You owe it to yourself to risk failure or even to fail at least once a year. If you don't, to my mind, you're not doing it right, because you've always got to be out there, you've always have to be pushing yourself and the envelope. Otherwise you are doing a disservice to your readers, because it means that you're not taking enough chances, and you are limiting and stunting your growth. Only in failing do we manage to pick ourselves up and make ourselves better."

"You only get writer’s block when you stop — we can’t stop, so it’s not a luxury.
If you’re stuck and you feel like your scene sucks, you STILL have to move on.
If your scene DOES suck, you have to trust that someone else is going to help you make it better."
