I live in Brossard and I just moved her a couple months ago so I'm still finding it challenging to get around. Would anyone like to meet anytime Sunday, Monday nights, or Thursday nights? Somewhere in greater Montreal is easiest for me to get too but I'm pretty flexible as long as it isn't halfway back to Sask, lol.

I could do any of those days but until I buy myself a netbook it seems kind of silly. I suggested Cine express on another thread. While it's expensive food/drink the seating is very private and its local to pretty much everything. (St catherine between guy and atwater.)

Cine is also 24/7. There is also the 2nd cup on Guy/St-Cath which is a bit more mangy and the starbuckae all across town, though those close at some point. I'm good with all of the above :)

Sundays are perfect b/c that's my day off. I don't really care where we meet as long as it's somewhere close to a metro station. You know that when I was visiting my sis in Toronto and talking about the metro nobody knew what I was talking about. And now subway just sounds weird to me. It was quite confusing.

How about the Second Cup, closer to the Tube and has more of the comfortable chairs (and if it's packed we can just waltz on over to Cine which is walking distance). the address is
1602 Rue Sainte-Catherine Ouest Montreal, QC H3H 2S7
What time would be good for everybody on Sunday?

how about 6-7 PM. I'll be there. Just go in and scream "NANO!!" out the top of your lungs and if nobody answers I'm either not there yet or i'm pretending I don't know you because you made a fool of yoursel :)
whatever works

I'm busy from 6-7 but I could be there Sunday from 1-3, or 11am-1 or something.

I'm free on Sunday. Meeting at 6-7 is fine with me but if you all prefer the afternoon thing I can do that too. 11 am is a touch too ambitious for me to be in motion though. It'll still take me at least 45 minutes to get there if not more and the mornings and I are not friends.

That being said I bought a netbook today! So I can do these write-ins and whatnot.

Can we set a specific place to find each other or something? I'm a little too reserved to start shouting in the middle of a coffee shop. I'm not to shy too hand out my picture or a description if that helps.

Hm, I can't make it on Sundays... the bus passes only once every two hours, so it's really inconvenient.

Incidentally @DystopianNaNo: Another Saskatchewan person? Awesome!

Maybe 1:00 would be a better time. If we don't hate each other maybe we can meet another day to Laogeodritt can come too.

I look like a complete goof in all my pics so the only way anyone would recognize me is if I was making a funny face, lol!

Now you're building up hype. I'm totally expecting a silly hat and a monocle or something along those lines.

The internet seems wonky at the library near my house but that's okay I got so much more done without distractions. I think this netbook is a blessing in a visa wrapped disguise.

Sunday! Aye! One in the afternoon!

Though potentially a little bit later, post pre-noon cheap Sunday six dollar cinema at the AMC Forum. :D

@alphtrion - I do so enjoy the Underground transit travels and the "London," "Underground," "Mind The Gap" magnets on my fridge. Each in that lovely Tube roundel.

So much so that many, many years ago it was the subject of one of my college Graphic Design projects. Oh those days, afore the easily accessible internets (a series of tubes!) and I had to mail an old school letter to London for information about the history of it. And now, a mere click: http://www.ltmcollection.org/roundel/about/detailedhistory.html

And did I ever digress there instead of regress into the writing of The Economies of Strange.

Hi,

I'm totally new to the 30 day contest and live in Saint Hubert. I'm sort of nervous about the process & overwhelmed. Meeting with others, I'm sure, would help. I would certainly jump in for south shore or MTL meetings. Again, being knew....What happens in these meetings ? What is done , covered and who is responsible for directing the meeting ? Thanks

Hey Vicky,

I'm new too but this is what I gather: we can kind of decide what we want to do at a meeting (ie. brainstorm and write or just hang out). I think this Sunday and one is one of the first meetings if you are available. I think there are only a couple of us in South Shore who are doing NaNo.

Alright, I'll try and wake up for 1pm lol. I'm only a 15 minute walk away so it shouldn't be too bad. :p

A bit of history:

A few years ago, the Wednesday night meetings were at that Second Cup, but we found it was way, way too noisy.

Last year, there were Sunday afternoon-and-evening write-ins at the Second Cup in the so-called Monkland Village, but it was way too crowded.

The Tube? I've lived in Montreal for decades, and I'm not familiar with the term. Did you mean the metro?
If so, which station is that close to?

meaning the second cup at the corner of Guy and St. Catherine; this board isn't great at indicating what's a reply to what.

If its too noisy we can move to Cine Express. Though it's not quieter the way its set up now with huge private booths is at the very least more remote from the noise.

Alternatively I could ask my sister who works at Melange Magique if we could use their event floor sometime. They have authors doing book signings all the time so I think they might be agreeable to helping people through this. That would definitely be quiet! (Though I would need time to ask her, have her ask the owner, get back to me and so on.)

1PM on Sunday at the second cup at the corner of guy and st-cartherine. The closest metro would be "Guy". I'll upload a picture in my profile when i get home tonight so that you can identify me.
