When I write, I sometimes get bogged down on how horrible a writer I am. These negative thoughts make me very sad, but then I tell myself, "Hey! You can do this! So just... shut up and do it!" That usually works for me =]

It has helped me and others I know through the dark thoughts our minds seem to conjure up when we think we can write for a second. It's hilarious and brilliant. In the end it says to me to turn off the negative voice and write one thing at a time, or as she calls it, Bird by Bird (the name of her book of essays on writing). YOU CAN DO IT!
