Coming up next: I get to write a werewolf transformation for teh furst timez evarz! (I hope it doesn't sound too much like what they did in Being Human IhopeIhopeIhopeIhopeIhopeIhopeIhopeIhopeIhopeIhope. Just need to try and purge that show from my brain for the time being).

It is strongly recommended that during NaNoWriMo, you:
DO NOT post excerpts of your current NaNo novel on a critique forum. That's what December's for.
DO NOT worry if the prologue's okay or if it detracts from the rest of the novel. That's what December's for.
DO NOT hesitate in giving people a verbal smackdown for trying to edit during NaNo.
DO NOT start crying because somebody's started another "should a prologue even be used?" thread in a writing forum (just call it "chapter one", already!)

The 5th has been incredibly unproductive, and has included sleep deprivation and naps that didnt help. Now off to babysit more, but the computer is coming with in hopes of perhaps some writing being done. At least Im in a good place so if I lose today its not a total loss.

Aim for 8333 words? Yeah, right. That would require nearly doubling my current word count on the busiest TV night of the week. Not gonna happen, my friend. Weekends and write-ins are for catching up. It's only the 5th. I have plenty of time.
I only wrote a few hundred words last night. I had a pub quiz to play instead, and my team won!!! Totally worth not hitting my word count.

Am I going to be ostracized if I say that I have yet to feel the pressure of a lagging word count? Honestly, I'll be happy to have finished jotting all the details of my plot and characters by December 1, which may or may not include 50k worth of short scenes, setting descriptions, and perhaps the occasional side character point-of-view subplot.

Ah, BenPanced and Ariake... thank god for you guys to help balance out our regional wordcount.
I was sick yesterday. Am VERY sick today. *mutters lots of swear words* I'll try to keep up, and I PRO-mise I won't edit or evaluate or worry about the prologue. In fact, I'm staying off the message boards except for the regional one.
Have I mentioned how much I hate being sick? I hate being sick.

I've got a Warcraft raid tonight, so tonight's goal is to get massively ahead so that people start realizing I'm not a slacker this year. By 8, so that I can be raiding by 8:30. I only missed by goal of 8:30 last night by 20 minutes, as I was in game by 8:50. Which I thought was pretty darned good.
Aiming for 12k!

Yeah being sick sucks. I think i'm over the worst few days of my illness, but now i have a horrible lung hurting cough which is terrible.
I didn't get anything written yesterday, but it was expected, due to a family dinner. However i was over a whole day ahead so i'm still good.
Last time i checked our region was kicking bum in the word count category so we should try to keep it up.
----------Good luck!

I'm aiming for an even 5K after being an effing slacker yesterday.
Saturday, I feel, will be my catch-up day. Might even try for a write-in this weekend! I know I got like 11K at the 24-hour last year. Random thought: Anyone up for changing the name to "The Overnight Write"? ...or setting up a separate event for that?
Now to be creative. Maybe MC will find some goddamned zombies today.

So if a picture's worth a thousand words how many does the crappy drawing of my tectonic action I just did count for? Cause if it's a thousand I hit todays goal! If not I'll just have to go make another spreadsheet. And anyone trying to tell my my spreadsheets don't count can diaf.

Are people editing? I looked back over some of the stuff I'd typed and found it laden with strange misspellings and sentences that made almost no sense whatsoever. But I'm at peace with that. Last night I was able to finish chapter 1 so now I feel like I'm making some real progress.

I ran out of brain cells yesterday just as MC1 set off the trap that gets her into the situation where she will learn that there is something worse happening. That means that I get to write that part today.
I was hoping to be a little further ahead of the game by now. But oh well. There's the Blue Moon write in tonight, which has always been productive for me in the past. Tomorrow is going to be hard because I work both jobs tomorrow. I'll have to be extra sneaky about getting my words in.

Woa... You can't edit yet. All those strange mispellings are what NaNo is really all about. December is all about editing. One more word than you had the day before is progress even if its "EEP!"
As for me, I passed that word goal last night. But I want 10k today and I haven't had a chance to sit down and write yet. This is a respite from all the "life" that is happening around me that I can't seem to break free from. You know, preschool parent's day where you HAVE to play with your child, lunch, the chiropractor, grocery shopping (because the kiddies have to eat, and I won't let NaNo become the excuse to eat out.... [we really can't afford that.]) I just can't wait until 6:30 when I get to go to the Brooklyn Center Panera's write-in. Then I'll have my time to write, alone with other WriMoes, without life interrupting.

I have been editing. I am planning on deleting a paragraph tonight, so I am realistically at about 4200 words. I find myself re-reading the previous page as I'm writing and fixing grammatical and spelling errors, and rewording sentences to flow a little better.

For the love of all that's holy, DO NOT EDIT and DO NOT DELETE. Doing that takes away the entire point of NaNo. Yes, it is crap. THAT'S THE POINT. Just keep writing. Don't reread, don't correct flagrant spelling mistakes, don't spend time trying to figure out what the best possible word would be there.
JUST WRITE. Don't think. Write.
And Brian, as I said before, we know what the word count goal is supposed to be for today. Stop telling us that in the daily thread. You're either there or you're not, and if you're not, you know it. No need to have it rubbed in our faces in new and different ways. Besides, weren't you going to take time off from the forums for November?

Generally, I am not doing any editing. Sometimes I'll catch and fix a mistake or two when I read back through the previous session's writing to get my brain back in the game. I think that the little bit of extra time it takes me to read back through the previous page or so is time well spent, since it gets me back into the flow of the story again. I certainly haven't ever deleted a sentence, much less a paragraph.
I really want to make it 50k this year, so I'm trying to ignore the 'delete' key.

So much for THAT idea. As I was on the bus, making my way to Blue Moon, the cops had blocked off Selby, somewhere between Nina's and Mississippi Market (further up, at Selby and Dale). Having no idea how long we'd be sitting there, I just got off the bus and walked about two and a half blocks back to Nina's (give me a break. I'm aiming for word count!) so I could get something done. Unfortunately, I wasn't there for very long; the possible side effects of my meds flared up and I decided I'd be safer at home. Which where I current am. Helluva way to kill about two and a half hours, yeah?

Andy, I'm sorry to hear of your adventure (unless you can work it into your novel in which case I'll be happy about it).
I'm sitting here at the Blue Moon realizing that I've over written my prewriting and don't know enough about what happens next to write about it. And I'm still a few hundred words short of my personal goal for today. Well I guess I'll just have to keep slogging through now and hope that I dream a fair amount for tomorrow (though I'll have to sneak words in when I can since I work both jobs tomorrow).

note to self: do NOT read Brit chic lit when am supposed to be writing a riff on Shakespeare! Ariel is sounding completely like a gay London guy in the 90s! aaarg!
Serena and others who haven't been well, I so sympathize! I had to call in sick today and it wasn't so that I could write! have spent most of day in bed. got to feeling better finally, and managed a thousand or so words.
Unfortunately, plot is lurching....I may have to resort to the backstory involving the daughter who was pimped out to the King of Tunis...perhaps she could get kidnapped by....PIRATES! YES, when in doubt, send in the pirates! Unless you'd rather have ninjas, of course.
cripes, i sound delirious. okay, going back to bed. shall hope for good noveling this weekend.

8.333 words? So if I write 9 words I'm past the goal? ;)
Cracked 10000 today, made my MC do something he didn't want to, and will shortly introduce a new character. I'm making progress on letting go of worrying about things like proper sentences, the plot making complete sense, or whether a tangent has a purpose. The less I worry, the more fun I have.

Aw, man!! Ninjas! I totally didn't think of that! Darn. I could've had steampunk zombie vampire alien ninja pirates instead of just steampunk zombie vampire alien pirates! Man! I am so going to have to go back and change that! 'Cause everyone knows ninjas are awesome. Especially invisible ones. Oooh, that gives me an evil idea. What about an invisible ninja who is sad because no one ever notices him? Hm. I might have to add that to my novel.
