Okay, so last year I had to write about 25K in the last week of November because I got way behind about mid-way through, thanks to the joy that is grad school. *blows raspberry*

Anyways, so this year I'm actually pulling a head a bit, and I think I know why. I have stuck my MMC in a really horrible situation that he has to survive somehow, and I'm letting him complain about it as much as he wants. And then he has to do something really hard against the situation - and I have to explain that, while reminding everyone why it is so very horrible in the first place.

I swear, I'm racking up the words like crazy like this. And the best part is that it's all necessary to the storyline!!! Woot!

Cool! I do dumb things like describing showers.

I just finished, at 40k. I'll be adding a prologue.

I almost describe everything into detail to hit at least 1667 words a day, and I even made up two whole new characters who are quite useful to my plot and eventually helped me creating a subplot. I'm still a little behind, though.

I'm doing nifty little things like repeating myself repetitively and being redundant. I like your idea better, thanks! Time to go make my MMC's life hell!

I try to find random points in my MC's life that he can mentally rant about for pages on end. It's pretty useful; I end up finding things that lead on to even MORE senseless description until I can get a "plot" going. Not exactly talented, but it racks up the word count quite nicely.

Yeah, the year that I had a rough time one of my characters, who in a previous novel was a self sufficient ran with the boys type, just started whining. She complained though the entire novel. I figure she became an extension of how I wanted to whine on a daily basis.

Hey, It's comic relief, or disgusting relief that brings up your word count! I had mine talk about a pizza parlor that is minor to the point of shouldn't be there in the first place.
