I don't need to keep up with quota! I keep telling myself I need to stay a certain amount behind so that I can justify going to all the stops on the 28 hour write-in so that I can catch up my word count.

I'm struggling =/ Although I think I found myself in the same boat last year. The last two days of Nano I wrote around 7,000 words. I'm not too worried yet, just frustrated.

I don't like looking at the little graph and seeing my yellow sinking further and further below the gray lines. I'm off to see if I can get some words in over the lunch hour. Pen and paper no less. If I do this next year I'm acquiring a laptop.

I've written more than 500 words every say so far. Sure, it's not ideal, but it's better than skipping a day! Weekends are for catching up. Right?

I don't feel _too_ pitiful at this point. I've always started slowly. I seem to get better at cranking out words as the month goes on.

I agree. The more plot and stuff is already written, the more I seem to be able to write....maybe because I know more about the characters and what they would do?

Good to see you Rosalind!

I am horribly behind, don't get too much time during the day as I have my two little ones and I take care of two more. I get naptime to work and that is if my brain can actually settle down from all the daily commotion. Otherwise, I try at night, which has been difficult because my husband likes background noise, and it is usually too loud to concentrate. My story is also not coming along as I thought it might, but that could be because I was 8 chapters into a different story before I started the Nano story. *sigh* I hope I can get somewhere this weekend.

I'm glad this thread exists because I was kind of starting to wonder if it was just me...I've only written on two days so far and every time I log in and look at that bar graph that compares my progress to the daily goals, I get a little bit more uneasy about meeting this goal. Also, my writing buddy is already over 20,000. I'm toast.

I have been babysitting, and I have lots of homework... it's difficult to keep up.

And now it's warm in my house and all I want to do is sleep.

I haven't had much time to write, so I'm brainstorming scenes, but so far I am terribly bored with my plot. I have no subplots, I can't figure out how to baffle my protagonist or make things exciting.

Hopefully I can get some inspiration tonight.

I'm only at 2800. Oops >_< No real excuses, just laziness and getting distracted...its so hard with Facebook just one click away to go waste time on that instead of noveling.

And my ADD caused me to stop mid sentence in my novel to come write here lol.

I hereby give myself, and everyone else here a virtual kick in the pants to get them words going! =)

Yay, my people!

Words are coming slow, and I can get discouraged with my plot and the lack of activity. And sometimes I'll think "wow, I must have written 1,000 words!" and then I'll check and it was 300. Some days are like this. Better now than later!

Troubled Wrimos unite! I had a friend in town for the first few days and now I'm terribly sick. :( I've only written on two of the six days so far. And it doesn't help that my novel totally sucks and is completely uninspiring. I'm really, really screwed.

It sounds like you need some underachieving buddies. 20,000 is just ridiculous, feel free to add me as a buddy if you're looking for someone who promises to be consistently behind schedule and has to scratch and fight for every word. Of course, I guess I shouldn't even be posting in this thread now that I've gotten caught up. But I'll be pitifully behind again soon. I promise.

Ok, I didn't write 1667 words today. But I wrote over 1000 words. And I'm happy with my current word count. :)

I wasn't able to get a thing done today, so I'm still stuck at 3851/10002.

Tomorrow I need to visit family, but I'm hoping to make some serious progress this weekend.

Ok, I'm pitifully behind. But that will change. I'm not ... TOO ... worried....

Even though I'm at a beach resort in Florida. No, seriously. I had planned to be out of town this weekend, the plans fell through, I had the time off from work and the gray of October made me INSANE, so I got myself a weekend package trip to St. Pete Beach, Fla,. and here I am, all by myself and happy to have it that way. Outside there's a pool, some really noisy and drunk people outside by that pool and the bar next to it, a lot of wind, a big beach and an ocean I haven't gone to see yet (morning walk is planned, however).

So, yeah, a lot of action is planned to take place in sunny St. Pete!

When I've previously gone off for a writing weekend, I've had a lot of success. Staying up late in a hotel room where there is no laundry to do, pets to be distracted by, dishes to wash, mail to be sorted, bills to pay (oh, wait ... I brought those along!) and everyone else is sleeping, that's when I can get some work done.

But I'm pretty pitifully behind. We'll see how this goes.

OK, I love this thread! I was on schedule for all of Day One!

But you all inspire me to get back to the novel and write! As of right now, I am clawing my way back and plan to win for the third time!

600 words... Yeah, that's me.

Granted, I just joined the insanity YESTERDAY but still. This weekend will be much needed for me to play catch-up with the rest of you!
