Hey, I'm Miksoko. It's my first year of NaNo, but I've known about for a while.
I was just polling ideas in my community. My story this year centers about the land of Faerie, and the existence of Adam of Eve. It's a tragic tale of love, death, tribulation, and a final confrontation with the main character's roots.
I love sci-fi and fantasy, and was wondering if anybody had any really cool ideas.

hi
I'm De and I always seem to write in the Sci Fi catagory, most are alternative reality but this time I plan to use a more basic approach on computer reality. I also like a dimensional twist, so mixing the two seems to be the idea I am shooting for on this contest.

Hey, I'm typically a fantasy writer. This is my first NaNo, so I'm trying to go mild on the fantasy creatures/places this time.
----------My MC is a harpy, though not in the traditional sence of the word. I always try to use traditional fantasy creatures and take their characteristics and abilities out of the normal, expected realm, but tie everything back to the actual legends/myths. I also dabble in magic of all kinds. : )

I always tend to write in the fantasy realm, though my fantasy novels tend to be as realistic as possible. A good example is the current story I'm focusing on. It's actually a supplement piece to my main story, a little extra if you will. Everything in the story is based on real people, real places and my own past in a lot of ways. There are a few blatantly fantasy bits about it, primarily the fact the MC ends up waking up one morning with a pair of fully functional wings [In an attractive golden-brown color] and the mysterious Sera and Tobias who come to help find her when she's abducted by a mad scientist later on. [Sera and Tobias are similar to the MC in that they share many characteristics later on, such as wings, and other magical abilities]. I have to say out o fthe story there are probably only four completely fabricated characters, all the others are based on real peopel in my own life. Of course all the names were changed. I don't think I could write a fully immersed fantasy novel, there woudl be too many details to work out such as place names, the world they live in, mythical creatures, etc etc. I've always been a sci fi fan but haven't relaly written much on that front as of yet.

Yes, me and probably several hundred (or thousand) others.
I'm REwriting a novel I self-published in 1998, The Gerfnit Chronicles. You see, I wasn't as good then as I am now (at writing) AND I have a two book prequel in editing, which requires some changes to the middle issue of the four-book trilogy (call me Douglas Adams and I'll take it as a compliment.
I haven't read the old version in about a decade, and besides, this is my chance to change the plot of the pivotal "middle." I did no plotting in advance, which has slowed my progress considerably. I've resorted to writing random scenes, leaving their resequencing to a December through February cut and paste.
I've fallen behind the curve (damn those graphs!) and all of my buddies. Change of work schedule and location hasn't helped. Two commuter rides tomorrow (each one hour) plus two days off in a row might get me back on track. Might.
Check out http://www.gerfnit.com to get the general concept, with a different implementation.
Best to all of my SF colleagues.
