Hey, all. With the tragedy right next door today, I just wanted to make sure that everyone and their loved ones was unscathed today. You're all my little NaNo family (even though I don't know this region very well yet), so I worry!

Driving home from Maitland to Williamsburg (right near Sea World) yesterday afternoon took three hours instead of half an hour, but I and mine were otherwise unaffected. Spooked, though, when I passed a school and, thanks to the stop-and-go-traffic, got a real good look at a cop with a Very Impressive Rifle not ten feet from me ...

I drove right by there about an hour after the shooting. ( I didn't have any idea what I was driving 'into'.)
----------That was right when every officer in Orlando was converging in that one neighborhood. So I turned around right in the middle of the road, and took 408 home.
But me and my family are fine. Thanks for asking.

One of my very good friends (and one of the five people who are reading my NaNo as I write it) works for the company that was affected. I work nights so I usually sleep all day. My sister came in and woke me up at noon and said "Chelsea's office just got shot up."
She was not injured, but escaped with one of the gunshot victims while it was still going on. She left her phone in the office so no one could contact her, but she managed to put up a message on facebook telling everybody she was OK. She gave her statement to the police and her mom drove over from Tampa to take her home for the weekend.
It was freaking terrifying and we're all so glad that she is OK.
