I need a motivator.

I'm easily confused, and the actual word war forum confuses me. I want just one person (or a few) to war with.

I can write at about 1000 wph if I get motivated, but so far today I've only written 1750 words because, well, I'm just not that motivated.

10 minutes? 20? 30? I'm up for whatever! So does anyone want to word war? You don't even need to try very hard - you'll be doing me a big favour if you say yes and war with me for any time up to half an hour. Then once I've had time to rehydrate, maybe another word war. And another....

I'm here all day, folks! :-)

Hm, yes, a word war sounds like a good idea.

Just let me get some of my crucial housework procrastination out of the way first.... then I'll be game.

Perfect - I'm not sure how this works though... I assume at the end of 20 min we let each other know where we're at?

Yup. I'm at 2300 words now, so I'll just check my total word count at the end and see how much I've written. I assume you're at 31199 words, so you'd do likewise. The winner gets the grand prize of GLORY in this thread! We each just time ourselves from 4.20-4.40pm... speaking of which... it's after 4.20pm... I'm off!

Awwwww. I got a respectable number of words out, if not quite as much as I'd hoped: 782 words. How'd you guys go?

I got about 1100 words out (I was on a bit of a roll, and didn't notice that the time had ticked over to 4.40 until it got to about 4.42). Not bad - I got distracted somewhere along the halfway mark.

516 and 782 is nothing to sneeze at.

Cool! I feel happy anyway - and I think those are all decent word counts for 20 minutes! :-)

I was hoping to get to 1000, but I guess that would be a speed of 3000wph, which is pretty insane...speaking of which, hats off to ratesjul! :-)

I have done 1000 in a half-hour burst before, but I might set the timer and try and get 1000 words in twenty minutes, starting from 5 o'clock. If anyone wants to join me, that's great, otherwise I'll just challenge myself to get 1000 words out in 20 minutes anyway. :-)

I wrote a couple of bullet-points down so I knew where I was going in that 20-minute burst, and then I didn't even use them... I still find it useful to have some bullet-points to give me some direction, though.

I'm finding it difficult to write my current scenes since they're in a situation where they can't talk at all - it's really hard to write a (non-fight/love) scene with no dialogue, I find!

I was using http://writeordie.drwicked.com/ - which is great fun for wordwars. Except for when someone tries to send you an IM in th emiddle and you lose track of what the heck you're doing.

I've been known to shock myself by churning out 1200 words in a 10 minute burst from time to time - but it doesn't happen very often (it's a legacy from last year, I think, when I did all my typing before and after work, or in half hour slots on library computers). I do tend to average something like 1000+ words an hour, if my watch isn't lying when I load it into my Excel calculator spreadsheet. This time I was hoping for 750 words.

I'll join you at 5.
