Hello, my book centers around a man living in a post-hysteria world where rioting and killing took place due to a failed perception of reanimated creatures. The man loses his daughter, his wife and other people due to his drinking problems before the outbreak, but during the outbreak he also loses his sanity due to his low supply of schizophrenia medication. This sounds a lot like the book of Job, and it was intended to have some resemblance, but I need other tales he can relate to, because he is trying to find God throughout the book.

I'm not sure I understand the "failed perception of reanimated creatures" thing. If you're going to have a book that deals with the Bible, it should be set in the same world and reality as the Bible.

The book of Judges is pretty grim. Also Lamentations will tear your heart out and grind it into the dust--but note the beautiful 3rd chapter. "His mercies are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness!" It was written by the prophet Jeremiah (who has been called the weeping prophet) after he witnessed the destruction of Jerusalem. When I tell you that it makes mention of bodies being piled at the ends of streets you will understand what horrors he actually experienced.

Ezekiel is another book that describes a seige on Jerusalem--one where women ate their babies, they were so hungry. It also contains Ezekiel's vision of the valley of bones, where bones came together and then flesh came on the bones, and then the skin, and they came back to life. All of that is metaphor for Israel's spiritual state, but I have to admit it would be pretty bizarre if your character was to read that story, and then to hullicinate it.

Oh dear. Now you're going to get me thinking like a schizophrenic.

Noah, who proved himself righteous by listening to God and going through the great effort to build the ark, had saved all his family.
He celebrated with wine and got drunk and laid down in his tent for a nap - ok, so he was naked.
His son didn't see the hero who saved the family, but an embarrassing drunk. Whatever he said to his brothers was so repulsive, they didn't want to look at their dad. The walked in backwards to cover him with a blanket.
When Noah woke up, he cursed the son who gossiped.

The perception of Reanimated creatures is failed because they are actually just people who have been infected with an Adrenal virus which makes them lose control. People perceive them as zombies, however. Thank you for the references, Lara and Fantastic :)
