It is 1 am and I have just crossed the 25,000 mark. Yippee, I can start going down the slide and hit that beautiful 50k sand pile waiting to catch me. Then again, I'm in that dreaded middle section. I still don't have clear what pieces of the puzzle my characters need to find in the second act because I'm still not clear what the game is. So I'm excited and fearful at the same time. Although the first 25,000 words contain lots of crap...there are parts that I really am pleased with (or could be after a re-write). Since my goal is to write a complete story where all the scenes lead to the conclusion I don't want to just word dump. I haven't used many of the worksheets out of the Victoria Schmidt's "Book in a Month" but some of them have really helped. Stopping writing and filling out some of the sheets have helped me get some story focus so I could go back to writing. But I've decided if I can't make the next logical step I will just keep writing scenes. It helps to keep telling myself, "this is a rough draft. Doesn't matter how many inconsistencies in story...sorting that out and choosing the threads to go with iis December's task." So, ya all,,,how's it going for you? We talking in this thread, story wise, emotion wise, and of course, word count. It's NANO!

I'm doing pretty good, considering I'll probably finish today or tomorrow.

Way to go Zig Zag, you've been writing like crazy I see. I'm over 34,000 and will most likely get close to 36,000 before tonight is over. I honestly look forward to getting the 50,000 mark by the end of this weekend with a week to go. I really, really like what I'm writing and will most definitely carry this out to novel length, but possibly not as long as my first two Raven novels. But what this has done is get me back to writing and being disciplined. After I finished "Raven's Rage" I hit a little wall after writing a long first chapter to the third Raven novel. Then my husband got really sick, in and out of the hospital for two months and things are now pretty much still unsettled. But the writing has given me something to lose myself into which is what I really love doing anyway.

Keep going Midnight Blues and know that if you really want this to go to novel length, no use stopping on November 30th. I wrote the first Raven novel in six months and the second one took 3 plus years. We keep going forward.

Hi Zigzag,

I can't decide if you are the person to do word wars with next year or not. I know I'd get left in the dust! It certainly will prompt me to get ahead next year for sure. I was glad just to get caught up. You're A-M-A Z-I-N-G! Congratulations. I think you are Philly's first WINNER....take that PA nowhere.
