Ever since I learned about the auto summarize tool in Word, I got a big kick out of over summarizing long documents. For example, Pride and Prejudice in 10 sentences is:

Austen wrote:
"Bingley."
Elizabeth felt Jane's pleasure. "Miss Elizabeth Bennet."
Elizabeth looked surprised. "FITZWILLIAM DARCY"
Elizabeth was delighted. Elizabeth read on:
Elizabeth smiled.
"If! "Dearest Jane!

I find it works best when you get it to summerise your work down to just ten lines, but it can do any amount.
So anyone care to share theirs?

Shouldn't you be writing?

I get:

Craig shrugged. Craig shrugged. Craig shrugged. "Craig." "Craig." "Craig? "Simone." "Joe." "Joe?" Simone turned.

That's a bit boring.

And:

"Jimmy?"
"Jack?"
"Jimmy?"
Jimmy?
Jimmy?
Jack?
"Jimmy."
"Jimmy?"
"Jack!"
"Jack?"

Which makes me giggle :)

Can anyone spot the abundance of suck here?

Wassa problem? Other than Matt dominating the landscape (and "my" Matt doesn't see a problem there).

it's been the problem all through my story. I have two MC's and Matt is the outgoing one. It's been very hard to keep him from dominating the entire damn story when the other MC (and to my mind more interesting one) gets shoved to one side all the time.

I think I can write around it but it's a trap I keep falling into without realising. Part of the story is how the boring loser MC becomes a worthwhile one through self discovery in part brought on by the outgoing self assured smartarse.

arrgh. Mind you if I knew how to do this stuff I wouldn't be practicing haha at least I can see it now.

Don't worry about it, James. I have the same trouble with my Alhen. Look at my auto-summarise XD

And the one from last year's NaNo?

it might be how you use pronouns too. In my one above, the MC is Simone, but I use 'she' a lot. Whereas there are two 'hes' so I used their names, esp. the boyfriend's more.

It does like names. If I do my one from last year I get:

Matt?
"Matt?"
"Matt. "Matt?"
"Matt? "Matt--"
"Matt--"
"Matt?"
"Matt--"
"Matt?

You see, mine takes over even more than yours

Auto abstract in Openoffice doesn't work the same way, it seems to reflect headings and points and stuff. I've used the Word one before and it is different.

You could email it to someone (and I'd promise not to read it)

Fair enough... I'm at that middle part of hyper-criticising my work to death instead of finishing it I guess haha

Thanks but no thanks, the only versions of Word I have I no longer use as Word for Windows 2a doesn't run on my Linux box.

Mines:
"Josie..."
"Tay?"
"Tay!"
"Dmitri?"
"Chris!"
Dmitri growled.
"Dmitri."
Dmitri teased.
"Dmitri?"
Dmitri asked.

But its amazingly intriguing in the 100-word form. Like, it's possibly a better story than the whole thing.

(gets distracted remembering when the uni computers changed to Word for Windows, was quite traumatic)

As I said above to uxintro.... If you want.

Wow, mine pretty much sucks, it's just the names of main characters although it's nice to see that Wintar once again triumphs over Kaleb.

Wintar .“Wintar…” “Wintar. “Wintar…” “Wintar? “Kaleb.” “Wintar…” “Kaleb.” “Wintar.” “Kaleb?”

If you're just getting names, try it on 20 sentences
