Hello Wrimos!

I know this is looking ahead a little bit, but I'm putting up a poll to gague interest in TGIO parties! From past experience it's easier on everyone if TGIOs are planned as far in advance as possible.

NH Stats:

New Hampshire has 136 Word Warriors gamely typing away in our region.
They've written a total of 1,474,398 words this week.
This breaks down to 10,921.47 words per warrior.

Highest word count per SINGLE wrimo is: luminessence with 56,608 words!!!

VT Stats:

Vermont has 45 Word Warriors gamely typing away in our region.
They've written a total of 602,135 words this week.
This breaks down to 13,381 words per warrior.

ME Stats:

Will be posted as soon as they're in.

So while we're leading in overall numbers (no big surprise since we have THREE times more wrimos participating), we are not beating VT in average words per wrimo!

SIX of our word warriors have reported ZERO word counts T_T Sadness! Let's pump up those numbers, wrimos!

wow, this project is kicking my butt. i'm going crazy trying to balance writing with work and karate. my dishes are piled high in the sink. No, I can't go glow-bowling tonight or any other night until December 1st!!! I havent even hit 25K yet.

I actually took Monday off from work so i can put in extra writing hours.

Is anyone else falling far behind and still committed to finishing like me?!

I'm finding, as I write, that my novel is going into territory that could be deemed offensive by some -- I'm not talking erotically offensive, but definitely not politically correct. Has this ever happened to anybody, and if so, what did you do about it -- remain faithful to your novel and characters, or write for your intended audience?

I'm sitting at border's in concord at a not pre-determined write in. I was in the area and need some novel words so I was like hey I wonder if anyone is busy noveling at the moment and I don't even know it! I decided we needed a thread for people to post a day time and what not to say hey I'm here... are you?! So it's sunday around 2 and I'm at borders. In the biography section... because the cafe is a little hub-buby for me. So there... I'm beginning this thread when I should be noveling... ta-da...???!!!
The Rally

So, here we are, halfway through our NaNoWriMo 2009 experience. This is, as some of you know, my fourth year of doing this, and yet, I have STILL never won.

Maybe it's stress, or my living conditions, or who knows what, but as is obvious, thanks to the little blue bar, I am disturbingly behind. Now, as a plus, I'm a little past where I ended last year in terms of word count, so I know I'm going to beat out last year. That's a comfort.

But I was really hoping to finally get this done! As things stand now, I would have to write at least 2500 words every day until the end of November to actually pull this off. It sounds do-able, but I'm worried about it. So, here's my question.

Any other NH WriMos who are feeling sad and behind schedule? Anyone with tips or advice for getting us slowpokes to rally our strength and will, and make our great dash to success? Any words of encouragement, or pity for those of us watching as the halfway point slogs by, leaving us in the dust?

I don't want to give up. Even if at 11:45pm, November 30th, I have only 20,000 words, I plan to spend that 15 minutes typing. But I would much rather be smiling and laughing as I ran over the 50k mark, even if it's very dead last minute.
Popover's is still the spot for Saturday Portsmouth write-ins

Hey all!

I decided to make a new thread for this, since the subject line of the old one mentions Breaking New Grounds, and I don't want to confuse anyone now that they're being held elsewhere. (I love BNG but the electrical socket/table situation makes it difficult to hold a write-in with more than two people.)

So, Popover's is now the spot for the weekly write-ins in Portsmouth. Every Saturday at 6 PM! If you want so show up early, that's great; just print out a table tent and I'll meet you there.

The one large table is the best spot, and I'll try to get there early enough to reserve it.

I didn't make it yesterday because I had a serious life issue. That won't be happening again. Sorry to anyone who showed up and didn't see a table tent!
Ok, that was terrifying.

I nearly lost a thousand words tonight.

Let me start at the beginning. I've been writing on my laptop, but I accidentally left the power cord at the office today. And the laptop's battery is about five years old, and holds a charge for...oh, half an hour. If I'm lucky. So, I transfered my novel over to our file server (yes, I'm a geek), and booted up the desktop system which we've ignored for roughly a year. Not too surprisingly, I had to reset the clock (no, it's not 2002, thank you very much), but other than that, everything seemed normal.

Then, over a thousand words into tonight's writing, Word crashed. And then, when I tried to open the recovered file, it crashed again. And again.

In horror, I closed all my applications down, re-launched Word, and tried to recover the novel. Crash.

I swear, I was near tears at this point. Of course, losing a thousand words wouldn't put me too far back, as you can see from my word count, but the psychological effect would have been devestating. So, crossing my fingers, I told the computer to restart, and told my wife what was happening. When the system came back up, I tentatively opened Word, and then clicked on the recovered file...which opened. Phew.

For the rest of the evening, I found myself hitting control-s after almost every sentence. Really. Hopefully, this is the worst that happens in the next two weeks.

-D.

I would love to be able to attend write ins this year, but a lot of times the locations/times are just too far for me to travel. I live in Campton which is on the southern edge of the White Mountains.

Anyway my mother is the director of the Effingham Public Library http://effingham.lib.nh.us/index.html and when I have a Saturday off from work I tend to visit her and hang out at the library... it's hopefully a nice six hour chunk of time for me to get writing done (especially durning Nano!) I'm planning to be there Saturday the 7th. Is there anyone who would like to join for all of part of the day?

Let me know!

Epping Write In?

Wondering if anyone's going to be at the Epping write in tonight. Planning on going, but if no one's going to be there I might just stay home and work from here.
Also wondering where last year's crowd is! :)

Week 2 Word War Stats

NH Stats:

New Hampshire has 136 Word Warriors gamely typing away in our region.
They've written a total of 2,513,146 words this week.
This breaks down to 18,895.83 words per warrior.

Highest word count per SINGLE wrimo is still luminessence	with 87,814 words. WOW

VT Stats:

Vermont has 45 Word Warriors gamely typing away in their region.
They've written a total of 983,039 words this week.
This breaks down to 21,845.31 words per warrior.

So while we're leading in overall numbers (no big surprise since we have THREE times more wrimos participating), we are STILL not beating VT in average words per wrimo!

SIX of our word warriors have reported ZERO word counts T_T Sadness! Let's pump up those numbers, wrimos!

If you like numbers and want to see what you reported in at you can check out the spreadsheet here: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AlmE5jwSJDe8dEI2c1Vsd1JPVE9VdjRN...
So Now What?

Soooo... Once you get to 50,000 words, do you post your total immediately, or do you wait till November 25? I should add that this is not the complete novel -- I had 13,200 words written on it prior to November 1, and I still have at least one chapter to go. But my current total has been written *solely* since November 1.

Well, still well behind my 25k goal for tonight, but I think I can make it even with all the busy hectic schedule for today. :) Sure going to try! Just sat down for about twenty minutes and added almost another 1k to my word count, so it's a doable goal. Hope everyone else's word count is going well!
Write-in tomorrow at Breaking New Grounds in Portsmouth!

Hi! Sorry if a thread has already been made about this; I looked through the forum and didn't see one.

I'm hosting a write-in on Sunday, November 8th, at a coffee shop in downtown Portsmouth called Breaking New Grounds. It's an awesome place, with wonderful coffee and desserts. There always seem to be a lot of people writing there, too!

Me (Rachel) and my boyfriend Eric (also writing a NaNo novel) will be there by 7:00 PM and will put up a table tent. There aren't many big tables at BNG, but there will hopefully be clusters of tables close to each other so we can all write together.

The café closes at midnight. Feel free to arrive early and put up your own table tent!
----------
My first year participating in NaNoWriMo.
Day 24 of 30.
79% of the month is completed. 79% of my novel is completed.
I have ingested about 6 GRAMS(!) & 57.8 mg of caffeine.
I have ingested about 15 alcoholic beverages.
Next goal: 42,530 before bed

November 13 Progress/Chat Thread

Well, it looks like it is going to be another marathon weekend.

I took Wednesday off on purpose to just kind of let everything percolate.

Then last night I ran into some technical difficulties *and* got completely distracted by another storyline which insisted on being written. So ... I wrote over 2500 words yesterday, but most of it belongs in a different project, unless I can find a way to incorporate it into the November novel. I pasted it in anyway, and tonight I'll take a look and see what fits.

If tomorrow is cold and rainy, it might be perfect writing weather.
Plot/Character twists anyone?

Ok, so not only have my characters decided they want other parts of their lives told than what I had originally planned on writing, but they've thrown a ton of plot twists at me as well! Ack! Add in the fact that another character that is my main from last year's nano is now screaming that she wants the rest of HER story told.... I guess I'm going to be sort of writing multiple stories all at once instead of one continuous one. Anyone else having this kind of snafu in their writing?
I'm all for having lots of stuff going on in my stories, but this is getting crazy... I had already given up on trying to keep it flowing in a cohesive format, I can fix that up later when it's all written. But now that a 4th character wants in on the action I'm starting get a headache.
I'm not even sure how the "new" character even knew I was writing about the other three, nevermind how she knows them! Yikes! Well, guess it's back to the writing board as I can feel myself being pulled at to go back to it.
