Synopsis:

At a diner called Nellie's, where the locals stop in for a drink, and travelers pause for breath, there is a waitress named Eliza who longs to leave it behind. She hates her job as a waitress at Nellie's. Taking orders and delivering them. It's the city she wants. The lights and excitement, away from forests, from twanging, uncivilized accents that grate her nerves and abuse her ears. She would leave in a second if not for the fact that she has no money. And if not for the boy who keeps telling her he loves her, and running away when she asks for answers.

He lives in the forest. He hates the city, its noise and smog. There are twigs in his hair whenever she sees him and he turns his nose up at her beloved books. Yet he will not leave her alone. And, despite herself, she is curious about this boy.

So she will not leave, not yet. She will continue to work at Nellie's, serving them her pies. Hoping that someday, she can unravel the mystery of this boy.
