Excerpt: Stella

Jared was a soccer star in their town, and even though he was only 12 he was known as kind of a ladies man, since he was able to get a kiss from pretty much any girl he wanted. Any girl except for the most coveted of all, Sarah. But today he was going to do it, he had talked himself up, and had his plan made, he walked up to Sarah who was sitting on a swing by herself, lowered his head and said "Hey"

"Hi" responded Sarah sweetly, looking straight at him.

"Umm, so, what's up?" asked Jared.

"Not much really, just here sitting on this swing, enjoying the day" she said.

"That's cool, it is a nice day." He was getting nervous now, what if she rejected him? All the guys would make fun of him, he'd never be able to live it down, he looked up at her, finally and said "So, hey, I was thinking, do you want to go get pizza with me tonight, after the game?"

Sarah smiled and looked in his eyes "Why? Because you want to kiss me?"

Jared was taken a back by this, did she know? she must know, oh no, she's going to make fun of me, what should I do? "Uh, no, I just wanted to like... talk"

"Ohh," Sarah got up off the swing, and picked a flower up from the ground, and gave it a kiss, then she handed the flower to him "Well, there, you got your kiss, if that's what you were after, but if you really want to talk, pick me up at my house at 7:30, don't be late, or I'll just eat dinner without you" She gave him a smile and walked away.
