Sins of the Father
an excerpt
Scarlett was seated at the navigation table of the Amber's Glory. The Glory wasn't a pretty ship, but it was her. It was a old Jacob class cargo hauler that she purchased at an auction in Montreal a few years ago. It belonged to the Newfoundland Royal Airforce during their brief war with the tribe's of the Northlands. After the war, the NRA didn't need as many ships in their fleet and decided to auction of some of their older ships to raise money to pay off their war debts. Somehow the Glory made her way to Montreal and then into Scarlett's hands.
She was an ugly zeppelin, but she was Scarlett's. The dual-hulled zeppelin could carry a lot of cargo but was not going to win any speed or style contests. The zeppelin was over 400 feet long, and could carry 3 stock cars worth of cargo. She started her life as a cargo tender for the larger zeppelins in the NRA's fleet, pushing full cargo loads to the front, but not anymore. She rarely ran full, but Scarlett was smart about what cargo she ran and to where.
The bridge was a cramped affair with pipes and machinery running everywhere. Scarlett wasn't a mechanic but was sure that half of these systems were either redundant or not necessary. But then again, she let her crew fix the ship; she just ran it.
