Excerpt: Untitled, as of yet.
“I can count to a hundred.” Ruby said, walking in with the parrot on her shoulder. She had just gotten it that day and it was already attached to her as if they had met years ago and were finally reunited. I scowled at her.
“Mommy is asleep in the bathtub.” I said. Ruby shrugged.
“She does that a lot.” She says.
“With that bubble adult drink?” I ask, playing with the magnet. Ruby snatches it away from me, sticks it back on the fridge. I want to stomp off and cry but I remember she didn't answer me yet. Ruby's eyes are a bit larger now though.
“What bubble drink?” She says slowly.
I don't get to finish though because mom was suddenly in the kitchen with dad, holding her up as if her legs were made of strawberry jelly. She was wrapped in a towel the color of Ruby's bird. It started to flap it's wings.
