Synopsis: From What? (Tentative)
Not exactly sure yet. Some sort of conspiracy, with a main character who has a super power, a best friend who is a figment of her imagination, and some really awesome guy friends who help her figure out all this random stuff that keeps happening to her. For older teens, college aged.
Excerpt: From What? (Tentative)
Preface
I threw a haphazard glance behind me but kept on running all the same, my sketchers pounding the pavement in a way my percussionist friend Daniel would have envied. The hooded silhouette was mere yards trailing after me, too close for me to feel any relief whatsoever. If it were possible, my heart only began to beat faster, faster, because I knew the mysterious figure was gaining on me. It is funny how you always hear about these types of things on the news, see them in the movies, and you never experience them first hand, or even know somebody who has experienced them.
I darted around a hot dog cart on the next city block and rounded the corner, onto the busy as hell Sixth Street. The cart owner frowned at me as I knocked over his stack of hot dog buns. I did not yell back “sorry” or even smile back apologetically. I had no time.
I found it strange, how no one noticed this teenage girl running from some creepy looking hooded guy on the sidewalks of Austin. Had they simply seen it all before? Was it not even out of the ordinary enough for anyone to at least turn his or her head at the commotion? Headlights flashed from every direction, as taxis towed well dressed men and women to glamorous parties throughout the city, completely oblivious to the fact that I was running for what I assumed was my life. If it was not for my life, it was for something bigger than my life, like for the fate of the world, of all mankind. In that case, I was the only one who could stop the evil that had begun. And I would try to quash it, even if I did lost my own life in the process.
