“Say, miss,” I said, on a inkling that this young woman might know a thing or two about fixing jump drives, “would you like to come back to my ship and take a peek under the hood?”
At least that's what I think I said. Evidently it sounded more lewd, because rather than respond she looked at me like I'd been run over by a freight truck, reached out, and poked me in the shoulder. I was confused as to what that meant, and was still confused when I lost my balance, slipped off the stool, and landed face-first on the floor.
I'd had a bit to drink, remember.
