an excerpt
“Music has many qualities,” Niamh explained. Healing is one of the more practical uses. You see, my dear, inside each of us, every living thing, there are patterns hidden. Like the grooves on these tubes.” She pointed to the little pile of loose tubes that had been at the bottom of the bag. “They tell our bodies how to play the tune of our lives. How to grow. How to process food. How to heal. How to get sick. Whether to sleep or wake. Whether to grow muscle or fat. If I take the first aid tube out of the pipes and put a different tube in, with a different pattern, a different tune will play. In the same way, our bodies have tubes hidden inside. The tune that plays is determined by many things – what we do, what we think, what we experience, what we get from our parents.
“Sooner or later, the wrong tune gets played too often. We grow ill, we grow old, and in time we die. The pipes can help correct that. Play the right tune on the pipes, and the body will change its tune to match.”
