Guests of the Heartless
an excerpt
Another hour of flying aimlessly over endless plains dotted with the occasional unoccupied town, and Nisemono saw the perfect place to hide. He landed the dragon in the courtyard of the still intact Castle Oblivion. Even after their return, what remained of the Organization dared not set foot in the place that was once the setting for a failed yet bloody coup.
Whether it was out of some warped notion of reverence or an equally warped sort of superstition, Nisemono neither knew nor cared. The most important thing was that he had found what looked like the perfect place to hide, a shelter in a storm.
“What is this place?” Kairi asked, sliding off of the dragon at last.
Nisemono smiled. “Shelter.” He opened the heavy door, gesturing for Kairi to go in first. Even if they were running for their lives, he was a gentleman, after all. As Kairi walked in, with Nisemono close behind, the door closed of its own volition. Kairi looked back. Perhaps the place was haunted, infested with Heartless or something.
The two of them walked hand-in-hand, down long hallways, looking for any signs of danger. Seeing no such thing, they kept going.
