Excerpt: To Death Beyond

The young woman discretely brushed her hand against the walls of the shuttle, the lifelessly cold metal held no familiarity to her as her nerves thought back to the wood walls that dominated the world she came from, one of the few planets with an abundance of strong growing trees, that seemed to hold a comforting warmth even when the days became so cold. It was cold in the shuttle and the air was almost painfully dry and she clung to her jacket to try to pull it just a little bit closer.
