Rerun
an excerpt

Kim and I paked up our things and headed off to our next class, her to Biology and me to math. For once I am glad we had different classes, but then again, if she had been there, maybe it would have been less embarrassing. The stairs between the history and math room are always slittery, but even more so on rainy days like this. So much for that weather man. I was carrying my math stuff in my hands and had not bothered to zip my backpack all the way, I mean it was only a hallway and a half of a trip. three stairs down and I tripped. My math books went flying and as I was catching myself on the railing I heard a loud ripping zipper noise. The entire contents of my backpack spilled out and started cascading down the stairs. There were probably twenty or thirty witnesses to this, most of them laughed. A few tried to catch my flying papers and then hand them to me in a messy pile, but mostly they just kept going. after all, they had to get to class too. I caught sight of Peter off to my right. He rushed over and helped me re-collect my explosion of papers.
“You okay?” he asked, shuffling a stack of mostly biology notes into a neat stack and handing them to me.
“Yeah, yeah. I am fine. I hate it when I do that though.”
“Nicely done babe.” Kyle had sidled over out of nowhere. He picked up two sheets of paper and put them on top of my already full hands. “I have to run, see you later.” He patted me on the head and leapt down the last few stairs.
“Well that was nice of him.” Peter scowled and moved on to collecting pencils; these were still rolling in all directions.
“He said he was in a hurry.” Peter and Kyle… I did not know exactly what it was, at least not at the time, but there was just something not right between those two. I mean they were civil to each other and such, but they were never friends with each other the way the rest of us were.
