Sunflowers

Adina lay sprawled on the ground of her basement, the concrete floor was cool on her body, and slowed the swelling of her black eye and bruises on her back. The lights were dimmed, and the basement smelled dusty and mouldy. Phil had arrived early that day, and she hadn’t been ready, she knew it was her fault, but at the time she thought that studying was more important. It was after all her last four exams of her entire highschool career and she was completely swamped.
