Brief Author Bio:

I've been creating stories since before I knew how to write; I would have my mom transcribe them for me and then I'd do the illustrations.

I've had a love for history since I can remember; it was my introduction to the American Girl series as a child that reinforced that passion. I wrote my "first novel" when I was 12. It was nearly 90 pages, 180 front and back. The majority of them were handwritten.

I'm an active member at FaithWriters, a Christian writer's website. Through them I've written a few short stories, one of which was published in their quarterly anthology.

I have numerous story ideas (all of them conveniently organized in little folders on my computer based on the time period); all of them are historical in nature. I'm now working on my first novel for publication, tentatively titled Promise of the Chrysanthemum, which is set in Meiji era Japan (in the year 1890). I'm hoping that in a year or so I'll be able to start my search for an agent and become a published author.

Synopsis: Promise of the Chrysanthemum

Kaiyo McAllister has never felt that she has truly belonged anywhere. Daughter of an American mother and Japanese father, she has lived her entire life ostracized from both societies due to the circumstances of her birth. Recently grieving over her beloved mother’s death, Kaiyo seeks to make her way in the world without the help of anyone.

However, her life changes suddenly with the arrival of two strange men, “messengers” from her estranged father, who claim her life is in danger. Kaiyo must now face the dark secrets of her heritage as she adjusts to life in the secluded town of Kakunodate with an unfamiliar family and the mysterious Ryuji, who seems to be hiding a dark past of his own. But life in this seemingly peaceful town may not be as it seems, for even here the shadows of the past threaten to destroy her. Will she be able to find the strength to survive and to overcome the transgressions of the past?
