Synopsis: Anthropometry

Anthropometry is a prime example of the grand overly-ambitious projects I like to write, the only difference this time being that these days I'm actually getting somewhere with them. This project has been on the backburner for nearly two years now, ever since I did NaNo07, and has undergone two revisions.

So what's the novel about? In expanding on modern themes in a futuristic setting, I aim to explore questions about how life is defined and values common to life. It follows the misadventures of a reclusive hybrid birdman by the name of Orlestat as he tries to deny the world even while it catches up with him. What starts off as a simple arrest for being in the wrong place at the wrong time escalates as a fragile peace collapses, and Orlestat finds himself having to make sense of a hostile world from an entirely new perspective.

Then, as one would have it, war breaks out, cracking open the brittle egg-shell of a fabricated history, as once again the quest for an elusive truth begins anew. Where did hybrid beings really come from? What were the true nature of the events of those past few centuries that shaped the world to the state it was then? Even if not interested in those questions, Orlestat must learn either to embrace his existence or spend the rest of his days wondering what life is, or should be, if anything.
