The Afflicted (Part 3)
an excerpt
"You working on this left-handed?"
"I can use my hand. Just no big motions. Nothing that'd put strain on the muscles, Wendy says. And she is the expert, so I'll defer to her."
"How many stitches?"
"I don't know, I didn't look. But if I had to guess, I'd say, a whole lot. And part that there was nothing to stitch to."
"It's your arm, and you haven't even looked at it?"
"Not since Wendy sewed it up. I got a pretty good view yesterday. Enough to last me a while."
"So is the alligator still under the porch?"
"Sy and Rain got it out. They'll probably cook it."
"Hey, they should give some of the meat to you. It ate part of you, so you should eat part of it."
"Oh, god. Thank you, Day. That's quite impressively disgusting. I may never be able to get that thought out of my head now." He shook his head and sat down to inspect his otter. "Anyway, I don't think it had time to digest anything. Reptiles take a long time to digest their food. I mean, they eat like once a month."
"So the chunk of your arm is still in its stomach?"
"Now you're just being creepy. Stop it."
