To Bike
an excerpt
So there you have it, the whole sorry tale. I’m sorry it wasn’t more cheery or unexpected, but it feels so nice to finally relay it to someone, even if I don’t actually know that person and they’ll – you’ll - never matter to me. I did leave that night to the tune of Just A Shadow, which I suppose she was playing on the headphones when I walked in and played aloud once I’d left. It’s funny, I never liked Big Country whilst I lived with her, but now I can’t get that song out of my head. I know all of the lyrics, could recite them right now if asked. I don’t know what it’s really about, but I adapted them to fit the situation to my own miserable purposes. It’s playing right now, in fact. And, if you excuse me, my microwave meal is ready.
