Synopsis: Don't Look Now but Your Plot is Missing
Shanna Fox Mallory thought she had seen it all when her sister in law Peggy had tried to break up her marriage to Andy, or when she had tried to tell everyone that she was dying from cancer and it turned out to be a simple wart removal, or when she had talked the preacher out of the church van so she could go to Panama City Beach for the weekend, but now she had crossed the line. She had connived and manipulated her poor old grieving mother and stolen Shanna's cemetary plot! Now that was going to far!
1. Little did Shanna realize the depths that Peggy would go to keep her stolen plot or what else she could think up to do to screw up Shanna's life. When mysterious things start happening, Shanna has to enlist the help of an old flame-turned investigator.. When things take an ugly turn, Shanna realizes she may need more help than he can give. Or…
2. But the stolen plot becomes inconsequential when:
A. Peggy’s off balance son cracks over Peggy’s manipulations and over other imagined crimes against him and throws Shanna, Alicia and Mrs. Mallory out of his house just days after Andy’s funeral. They have to move back to the tiny house next door to Peggy where they find that…
B. Peggy has become involved with a real schizoprenic paranoid who sets a bomb in her house when she tries to break it off with him and who hears voices telling him that 14 year old Alicia is meant to be his perfect bride. He kidnaps and holds Peggy as hostage until he can get his hands on her then takes them to his survivalist camp in the mountains to hole up and wait for his next message before killing them and taking them on to psycho nirvana.
It all ends in a little too much crazy in one family and a lot of darkness before the sun comes up again.
Excerpt: Don't Look Now but Your Plot is Missing
In 1973 Shanna Fox had no thought that she would ever need a place to be buried, much less that she would have to fight her schizo sister in law to keep one. In 1973 all that Shanna knew for sure was that she loved to ride with the windows down on a hot day listening to the Allman Brothers and that wide legged bell bottom jeans were the coolest thing God ever made.
But it wasn’t 1973 any more and she’d left The Allman Brothers behind, unfortunately, and her behind wouldn’t fit into those cool bell bottoms anymore. Also unfortunate.
It was 2008, way past the new millenium, and with social security and medicare creeping up on her she’d be damned if she would give up her grave plot without a fight....
“Why, when mama gave it to me I was just speechless, can you imagine that? Mama gave me that grave plot right by my brother so I would have some place to go. Now I am not scared to die because I will be right there beside Andy for-ever.” Peggy was nearly glowing. Andy was probably spinning in his grave. Shanna Fox Mallory was seething.
Peggy Lynn Mallory had taken her plot.
