Synopsis:
In a future of technologically advanced, crowded cities and vast empty miles of countryside, a disease has been spreading unchecked through Earth's human population. Spread by people with an unusual "junk" genetic allele, which leaves the carriers immune, the disease causes terrible but non-fatal neurological degradation.
Eventually, the carriers are detected, hunted down and discretely "disposed of", but one young woman evades the hunters. Living a migratory lifestyle, she sells forged artwork and does casual labour to earn a living, dodging military patrols with fake papers.
Now, the detectives are on her trail. A female lieutenant seeking an elusive art-forger, and bounty hunters determined to rid their civilisation from a dangerous threat.
