Brief Author Bio:

i've been a writer for as long as i have memory, and constantly push myself to improve and evolve. aside from 2009's nano novel, i am working on two other books. i dabble in many different styles of writing and work at a community newspaper (as an americorps volunteer) here on the northside of pittsburgh.

Synopsis: Obsidian

Pagan Young Adult

When Kala discovers her mentor and science club adviser embezzled over $100,000 she panics. She would take the information to the police, but then she'd have to tell them she learned about the crime through a piece of volcanic glass. The state fair is coming up--and if she wants a chance at getting into a good college, she knows she needs to invent an award-winning science exhibit, because her grades aren't so hot. But now she has to work with a criminal. The stress sends her to the school counselor, who eventually wrangles the real reason for Kala's distress out of her, and after speaking to Kala's Pagan priestess mother, convinces Kala to tell the police. They investigate, and Kala's information proves correct, but the police don't believe where she got the information, and her anxiety attacks become more frequent. In part she blames her mother for raising her in a Greek deconstructionist Demeter/Persephone mystery cult, and in part she blames her teacher for betraying her trust. Now that everyone thinks she really is crazy, she still has an ongoing police investigation and the state fair to worry about...
