Excerpt: Obsession
She had blonde hair and wore a pinstripe suit with a matching suit skirt, both of which accentuated her near perfect form. Her legs were bare as she walked along the path of the city street, a free spirit with not a care in the world. Her hair flowed freely, to the base of her shoulders, which themselves moved with a fluid grace. This extended to her hips and all the way down to her feet, connected to the ground through high heeled dress shoes. She glowed in the daylight of that September day.
She had just gotten out of work, and held a small suitcase to her side as she walked past city buildings of the central business district. She passed the city headquarters of several major banks, all of which she had probably worked with in her time as a litigator. She walked past them, not giving them a second glance, sure of her destination without caring about the journey.
She turned into George Street and strolled along the glass display windows of the shops that lined the Queen Victoria Building, a sparkle in the sea of grays and blacks that signified the day’s end of business. She was careless and free, and as a consequence, she was completely oblivious of the fact that she was, in fact, being followed.
He stayed always at least three bodies away from her. He carefully matched his pace so that it would not be obvious to her – to anybody – that he was indeed following her. He had, in fact, been following her since she left the office of the law firm in which she worked. He had waited for her outside of her building, blending in to the afternoon crowd.
