Maggie lay curled up on the sofa beside Rick. It seemed that at home was one of the few times when they were alone together these days. She snuggled up to him and he automatically left an arm to cuddle her. Resting her head on his chest, she turned her attention back to her book. It was a fun little novel. She didn’t get much time to read and usually it would be a journal for work or a new book on spirituality but sometimes she would curl up with what she called brain ‘candy’. It was something sweet and romantic with a fairly good plot. That good guy (or girl) got the bad guy and won the girl (or guy) of their dreams. They would get married or move in together and live happily ever after. Simple. It never ceased to amaze her the many different ways the same theme or plot could play out. She had several of these books and they all had the same basic plot but each was different and original. It was kind of the same as her work. There were many different variations on a theme but each client was unique with its own twists and turns. It was part of what was so satisfying. She turned the page as the heroine of her tale fell into the hero’s arms. Here comes the love scene, she thought.
