Synopsis: Cottonwood

Mariah Jost ran away from home to join the army, because it was better than the alternatives. Nothing goes quite according to plan from that point on. Private "Mark" Jost gets sent across the Western Ocean to protect the colonies in the Wilderland, the largest realm of wild magic in the known world. To her surprise she gets picked for training as a Scout, magic-sensitives necessary to find safe pathways between Calm Places. Not everything is well in the colonies or the army, and Mariah's talents lead more to trouble than to advancement.
