Synopsis: I Squared R
Wedas, a young nobody, climbs to the highest power his world has ever seen... only to find his life is not his own. His journey to obtain authorship of his own life leads him through time, space, and consciousness, straight into our world, and into the arms of his troubled author. "Remember, one of the first times I came to see you, I told you about a story? About a boy who had to become a man by being with another man, in the Greek tradition?"
Tigue paused in his whole being. He did this sometimes, when he was thinking very hard and very quickly; he'd stop breathing, stop any sort of movement, and just sort of hang in space like an old computer confronted with a large program. Processing... Processing. He became sort of a doll of himself.
"No." Tigue returned, suddenly animated again.
"Come on. It's what started all of this!" Julie offered.
"All of what? The counseling? The...other?" He shifted position, uncomfortable.
"Yeah, the other." Julie said, chuckling to herself. She could feel her lips swell a little with the thought. He was so nibble-able, even if he was a pretentious bastard. She loved being on top of him, controlling him, withholding release until she decided it was time.
"Focus." he whispered in her ear. His voice was husky and rough, like it was when he begged her...
"Julie! Focus!" She snapped back into herself, just in time to notice that she was about to lose her balance, leaning over him the way she was. The hunter had gotten loose again. It had been a long time since that had happened, too.
"Jesus, I'm sorry Tigue." she said. "It's the business with the hedgehog pelt."
Processing.
Tigue almost cringed as he asked it, looking to Julie that he really didn't want to know the answer: "What hedgehog pelt?"
"The one I saw this morning." Julie relayed the story to Tigue, as clearly and coherently as she could.
When she finished, Tigue leaned back in is chair. "This is why I ask you to make notes. What does this have to do with the story that I don't remember? What does either of these things have to do with our...relationsip?"
"It's hard to explain," said Julie.
"Would it help if I read this story?" Tigue asked.
Julie thought about that, "Probably, yes, but you can't."
When she didn't continue on her own, Tigue asked,"why not?"
"Because I burned it." She blurted. "I burned it because of the hedgehogs."
Tigue quietly turned on his tape recorder.
