After the General Assembly, I felt I had lost ground in the world. That was when I first had ideas of violence as a means of drawing attention to the issues the world needed to face. The wealthy were insulated from the life and death struggles of the world’s majority. War and famine were killing millions, but they lived and died so far away it was easy for the West to ignore them. Hide in theatres to avoid the images, turn the music up loud to drown out the sound of roaring jets, bullets ripping through the air, the bombs going off, drink your bottled water and stuff your bellies with exotic foods to forget the parched children starving on the edges of denuded battlefields. I could refocus the sleeping masses. I could burn and bomb the theaters and radio stations; poison the food and water supplies.
