Brief Author Bio: I love writing and reading stories. I was raised in a family that loves books. I have two children and I am doing my best to continue the love of literacy. When my daughter was 4 she brought back a literacy survey from her preschool. One of the questions was "How many children's books do you own?" I can't remember all the choices, but there was a choice for 50 books or more, which I simply circled. I'm glad they didn't make me count all the books. We have at LEAST 50 children's books, and they didn't ask about books that my husband and I have collected. 2009 is my third year actually writing and participating. I can't find my word count from 2007. Last year though, I managed to get 9466 words, which is almost 20%. I'm increasing my goal bit by bit each year. I know I barely squeaked out 5k words last time, but that wasn't bad considering I didn't pick up a pen the first two weeks! And I hosted Thanksgiving dinner. Nearly 10k is a good run for me. I have an 18 month old son and a 5 and a half year old daughter, so between caring for the children and all the other fun stuff that happens in November, I met my personal goal. In 2010, my children will be 6 and 2 and a half years old and I hope that I'll be able to break past 30k. My goal for 2009 is to reach the halfway point...25k. I already have a great start and I beat last year's word count! |

Synopsis: One Fall Day at the Crying Cat Inn
Axel and Uruvial are two heroes of their world. They meet two unlikely partners, a repentant vampire and a shining paladin. A horrible accident with a spell sends them to the 21rst century where they must trust each other and work together to return to the home they nearly died to defend.
Excerpt: One Fall Day at the Crying Cat Inn
“We just checked in at the Crying Cat this morning.” said Axel. “I'm pretty sure that our hall is not full.”
“Well, fine lady and gentlemen, this is where I shall take my leave. You all know how to send messages to me, and covert ones too if necessary. Stay alert and stay out of harm's way. Try to only trust each other, but don't discredit everyone you meet.”
Marc turned to leave the square. “Good luck” he thought. He paused to admire the party as they began to discuss lodgings and dinner under the maple trees. The fall foliage was was warm with deep oranges and burning reds. A part of him wished that he could leave the responsibilities behind and join them. It was bad enough that he had asked Uruvial to join the excursion. She had hesitated at first. The council had no objections with her leaving. As soon as she came back, she would be welcome to reclaim her advisory position. Axel would be perfect for the task. He had wisely maneuvered himself out of the decision making and authority that Marc had to currently oversee. He couldn't separate Axel from Uruvial. Their love was still young, but it was very strong. He had seen Axel continue to love and protect Uruvial, even as the black orb nearly possessed her. He kicked his way through the fallen leaves and headed to the temple district. At least one temple would need to be able to perform a wedding when his friends returned.
