Synopsis: Boughs of Fate: Book One of the Ri'shan Trilogy
This is a complete and total rewrite of my 2004 NaNovel Phoenix Lost. The original draft is just plain bad and does not incorporate later world-building and plot-arcs that came out in books 2 and 3.
Malana Jar'ul was perfectly willing to settle for a normal life - spend her days protecting her hometree of Camia, find a bondmate, have children - but her father being called, and dragging the rest of the family along, to the capital has put a bit of a kink in her plans. Still, she could deal until they went home, except rumors have begun to circulate about her and one of her training mates - a boy named Danath Tri'el, whom Malana has known most of her life. And when the Queen herself takes note of these rumors and a personal interest in her and Danath, well, that's when things start to get interesting.
