Synopsis: Romance, Mob Style

Eight-year-old Lisette Chapman fell in love with the homeless boy who rescued her when bullies tried to take advantage of her in the alley behind her condo. Fifteen years later, she receives an exquisite necklace around the neck of the stuffed teddy bear she had lost in that alley.
She finds out the mysterious sender owns a small wine shop across the street from her Park Avenue condo. They meet for the first time and fall in love. When her mother finds out who he is, she tries to break up this budding romance to no avail. Six months later when they announce their engagement, the mother takes more drastic steps.
Can an unrequited childhood infatuation survive despite disapproval from all those around them? Was there an alternative to Romeo and Juliet's tragic deaths?
