Excerpt: Underground

Instead of doing homework I dreamed about lying in the sun in a summer's field of strawberries, crushing strawberries beneath me, the red juice mingling with the downy hairs on my body, soaking through my clothing, and the smell permeating me, and the taste of strawberry in my mouth, the greenness of the leaves too, and when I woke up my mouth was tingling and my tongue had swelled up a little.
