Brief Author Bio: This is my second year doing NaNoWriMo!!! This year I'm going to have to choose from a multitiude of story ideas I now have. Two are brand new ones while I have three new ones relating to Cinara, the world I created in last year's NaNoWriMo Novel. It's not going to make this year's decision easy!!! 9/6/09 update - I have decided on my NaNo! And it's not any of the ideas I had last year... At this rate, I'll never have them finished! Oh, well.... Anyways, this novel is sort of a cross between sci-fi and fantasy, though it will be classified (most likely) as science fiction. I'm not going to say much else until October! 10/5/09 - research, research research... Good luck with the planning everyone!!! "Build on what you have... The foundation is a good one, so now we see what kind of a house you can raise. And don't worry if the windows aren't the right size, the door is too tall, or there's dust on the mantelpiece." Synopsis:
A Revolutionary War soldier, wavering in his trust in his cause, finds a strange and mysterious stone. As soon as he picks it up, it disappears - and he suddenly has senses most people would not believe in.
Suddenly, he finds himself in New York City, 11/05/08, and discovers that the doubts he had would never come to be. He returns "home," and begins to realize the implications of the strange stone he had found. As soon as the Revolutionary War is over, he leaves the time period he grew up in, and discovers the mysterious of time-travel.
But what is the stone? Is it a magical artifact? A gift from God Himself? Or is it something else entirely?
Excerpt:
Philip had heard other soldiers whispering of doubt, and of fear. He shared the feelings, for it felt as though the cause they had all dedicated themselves to was failing already. The support for this war – if that is what one would call it – didn’t seem to strong. Certainly the rations were not inspiring confidence among the soldiers. Philip had had fire cakes for the past few days, and he was starting to feel just as desperate as everyone else for fresh meat.
He had joined the Continental Army to support something he had felt was right. After all the taxes imposed upon just the American Colonies, like the cursed Stamp Act, he had felt there was no choice but to fight for their independence. No one should be forced to pay more than other citizens under the same government, not even if they lived in a new territory.
