Synopsis: Goblin Men
After a earth-wide war riddled with nuclear and biological weapons, the world is left in shambles as an apocalyptic plague takes out a huge majority of the population. With most of America's cities destroyed or abandoned, small colonies are set up around the nation and left alone to survive or die. In the years that follow the first outbreak, several people begin to build up semi-immunities to the plague -- but with very strange and severe side-effects.
Everyone he knows is struck down, but Jal survives, changed and isolated, while Ronan is just trying to keep herself and her family alive. When the moon comes out, and Jal and Ronan meet, life as they know it ends and they begin to understand that there is something much more intentional to this new cruel world than anyone dared to imagine.
Excerpt: Goblin Men
The next day and night passed without event. As did the next. On the fourth night of their journey through trees and mountains, three nights after they’d left Colony Smith for good, the camp was completely silent. They all had food in front of them, but few of them were actually eating. Finally, a girl named Shirsa voiced what everyone was thinking.
“They’ll all be dead now,” she whispered, though in the silence, the whole camp heard her. “Everyone back home. They’re all dead.” Then she started coughing.
