Brief Author Bio:

My name is Melodie... I host the Tuesday & Thursday 1pm write ins at the Mountlake Terrace Library. Everyone's welcome :-)

Silly Novelist Questions:

What is your main character's name? Madison Leigh Ivy Andrews

What font are you using? Maiandra GD 10 in tangerine

What word processor are you using? Microsoft Word. Next year though I would like to try scrivener.

What type of computer are you using? A purple macbook with a 'Be a Shark' (hudson boats) sticker on it. Go Macs!

What is your biggest fear about your novel? That it'll finish itself before I reach my word count goal.

What is your favorite part of NaNo? Going to write-ins of course! :-) The novel at the end is pretty sweet too. This is actually my first year Nano'ing and attending stuff (young writers before) and going for the full 50,000, but I'm really enjoying it. Sort of. Meanwhile my soul is giving birth/dying. Eeek.

Any last words? What is the best way for a 5'3/117lb female to murder a 6'4/195lb male?

Pyxidragon to inspire me:

--pulls out the cheerleader pom poms and megaphone--

Rah! Rah! Sis-boom-bah!
Blow up a building, Rah-Rah-Rah!

Gimme a U! (U)
Gimme an F! (F)
Gimme an O! (O)
What's that spell? (Random scene generated!)

Possibly most important....

Hundred-kay!
Hundred-kay!
Hun-hun-hundred-hundred-kay!

Gooooooooo you!

Synopsis: My Grass is Green.

The novel excerpt is essentially a fictional version of the real-life moment that inspired me to write the novel. The novel itself is not nearly so gooey and actually does have a plot and everything. However, the theme is definitely exploring a relationship between two people that are attracted to each other in the romantic way where they're not basing it off of hormones. While Madison and Caid are completely attracted to each other, they classify what they think of the other person as 'cute' not hot.

Excerpt: My Grass is Green.

She wrapped his arms around her torso and allowed herself to be enveloped by him and his scent. They stood there wrapped in each other for a good ten minutes. It was ten minutes of inexplicable bliss. The moments were what Alex and Kelsey joked as the time Madison and Caid spent having sex. Except they were far more intimate than the intimacy most couples would ever experience even in an act such as that. They were nauseatingly sweet to witness, often compared to a unicorn being born. It was as though if you weren’t worthy to the intimacy, it sickened you to watch just because you couldn’t even begin to comprehend what was going through their minds and what was being communicated by their bodies within the moments.
