Excerpt: Crazy
Subbaiah turned slowly and walked back to his room. Vivek sat down on the sofa and stared at the T.V. for five whole minutes. Suddenly, he felt ashamed of himself for shouting at his Dad. Poor man, he had misunderstood what they had been talking. What would he do? Vivek wanted to apologize. After all, Subbaiah was his Dad! Subbaiah was sitting at the desk and staring at the blank wall in front of him.
“Dad, I’m sorry.” Vivek said, coming into the room.
“Why are you sorry Vivek?” Subbaiah asked, asif he was saying "good morning" at dawn.
“I shouted at you a few minutes ago Dad, I’m so sorry.” Vivek said abruptly.
“What did you shout?” his Dad asked him again.
Vivek sighed. He was still trying to get used to his dad's forgetfulness.
“I said that you were mad and forgetful. I’m really very sorry Dad.” Vivek said.
“Oh. Why did you say that?”
“I just lost my temper because of those silly girls.” He said, thinking about his sisters. He was cool now.
“What girls?” Subbaiah asked innocently, again.
“Kavin and Mayuka. Your daughters. My sisters. They said that I was bossing them around. Is that true, dad? I just take care of them. They take that in a wrong sense. It’s not my fault.” He said and stopped.
Subbaiah was dozing away.
“Goodnight, Dad!” he said and left.
