Excerpt: Botched
Linus awoke! Cold sweat dripped from his face. His eyes focused in the dark on the .38.
Trying not to awake Sarah, Linus got out of bed and grabbed the .38. He walked into the living room. He walked into the kitchen. He opened up a blind and looked out towards the street. Only the dark streets with the yellow reflection from the streetlight were outside. Linus closed the blind. He went to a cabinet and got out a flashlight. He sat down in a kitchen chair. He starred at the door to the outside. He watched it as though a monster was to at any point come through. He checked to make sure the gun was loaded.
Linus heard a doorknob twist. He opened his eyes, he must have dozed off. The door rattled a little. Linus was awake!
The door opened. Linus saw two faint, green dots appear. Linus pointed the flashlight in the direction of the dots and turned on the flashlight. Linus saw a face, a sinister, monster's face. He lifted his .38 and fired. The revolver made the loudest sound Linus had ever heard in his life.
The sinister face floated in the air. The monster fell backwards out of the doorway. Linus got up and walked to the open doorway. The sinister man was lying on the sidewalk. A pool of blood appeared underneath the sinister man. It got bigger. Linus watched the pool of blood grow. Linus raised his .38 and fired. The sinister man's mouth opened and closed as a .38 bullet smashed through it.
Linus felt a hand on his back. He spun to see Sarah. Sarah's mouth was moving but Linus didn't hear anything.
Sarah shouted at him and pounded his chest. She looked up at him in terrified confusion. Linus starred at Sarah with bewilderment. Sarah looked up at Linus with teary eyes. She hugged him.
