an excerpt
There is nothing quite like waking up to see the eye of someone who loves you watching you unblinkingly. Of course, if that eye is bigger than your entire head, it might give you pause. It gave even me pause. I groaned.
“What?” I asked trying to bury my head under the pillow. Didn’t work. When Rolf decides it is time for me to wake up, well, it’s time. He just snorted the pillow right off my head without even having to take an extra breath.
“Hey!” I whined. Nothing quite like dragon snot to wake you up in the morning.
I ran for the shower, Rolf laughing in my head. The bloody dragon should be bonded to my brother not to me. He’d be happier with Dermot. Dermot was a lunatic too. Me, I just tried to keep my head down and like actually think now and again.
The shower revived me, as well as getting rid of the dragon snot. Have I told you how bad that stuff stinks? I drew on my clothes, rebraided my warrior’s tail and headed toward the galley, carrying my boots. It hurt too much to bend over.
My sister Dana was there before me, looking disgustingly bright-eyed. She grinned at me the witch.
“So, I gather it ended up a late one last night?” she asked.
I groaned and poured myself a mug of coffee. If anyone ever asks you what fuels a space ship? It’s coffee.
