Brief Author Bio: I've participated in NaNoWriMo in 2004, 2005, and 2006. (I took 2007 off.) The first year I was amazed at the quality of my writing once I learned to get out of my way and get the story down on the page. It's incredibly liberating and inspiring. I encourage every writer to do it. You may think you don't have time, but, as with everything, you'd be amazed at what you can do with the little time that you decide to commit to it. |

Synopsis: Meet Mr. Martinez
Jasper Appleby is finally on his own in the Big City of 1949, but he's not like other young men his age. For one, Jasper is the personal assistant to Mr. Martinez, a Chihuaha and sole heir to the Martinez chocolate-covered jalapeno fortune.
Secondly, Jasper is haunted by the memories of the Christmas Eve when he saw Santa Claus bludgeon his beloved father to death, and being the sole witness, Jasper is forever on the lookout for when jolly ol' Saint Nick comes back to finish him off--but no one believes him.
Dr. Orwell keeps Jasper doped up on medication, hoping he can convince Jasper's mother to sign the papers allowing the psychiatrist for his experimental brain surgery.
In Jasper's favor are two new friends: Priscilla, a chubby girl on the hunt for a husband; and Paul, a Jew and homosexual who has been cast aside by his father and rich lover. Together, they help one another see the truth inside themselves, freeing them from the past and guiding them to their most cherished dreams. Of course, a little bit of help from a magical Chihuahua doesn't hurt, either.
