The Crossing: Book One - The journey of a thousand kilometers begins with a single orc invasion
an excerpt
The Crossing
Book One
A journey of a thousand kilometres starts with a single orc invasion
Prologue
It was a Dark and Stormy night,
Well alright, it was dusk and kind of overcast, but that's pretty bad for the Valley, but it wasn't the gloomy weather that was making people stay indoors on this night.
It was the feeling of the air around you bristling with thoughts and images that you didn't want to be a part of, of dreams flittering through the shadows and corners, dreams that when you paused and tried to watch fade back into the realm they come from, seem more like nightmares.
The air hung thick and heavy making the overcast clouds and waning light seem, meaner, harder, Dark and Stormy.
So I stand by my original statement;
It was a Dark and Stormy night,
These nights have a power about them, a feeling that they are the beginning, or end, yet rarely the middle, of a story.
And this particular night was. An end to my long journey, and a beginning of a new one.
The world was shattered long ago, struck from it's path of tecnology and science in a single blow. Demons, Devils, and magic, things that this world was never supposed to know, now lives and through feediing off the decaying mass that once was the Olde world now thrives.
Today, tonight, the first steps would be made to mend it, or cast it forever into the darkness that has gripped it for almost two millennia.
Dark and Stormy,
Will this dark night be simply a calm before a greater storm? or a chance for new brighter day?
Read on young one, Read on.
