Synopsis: Perfect

Weakness is intolerable, so much so that in the world of my futuristic romance, Perfect, people who are born with or develop any physical ailment are called Problems and terminated.

Thanks to her genetic engineering, Madeleine Lindbergh has everything she could want: a successful movie career that makes her the richest woman in the world, a beauty and vitality far surpassing those healthy enough not to be terminated, and a life expectancy of 141. But when she opens a gift, Madeleine doesn't just have a problem, she becomes one.

Rhys Andersen, head of the Adult Problem Termination Unit, is sent to investigate Madeleine on an anonymous tip. She convinces him to sign off on her clear slip in a way that could get him more than fired. As head of APTU, Rhys has the the highest security clearance in the government so that he can clean up any Problems the labs create. When it becomes apparent that Madeleine conned him, Rhys should know who set her up and why, but he doesn't. And he should terminate her, but he can't.

Too many unanswered questions and feelings too strong to ignore unite them in a battle against the part of the human condition that can't be engineered out, the darkness of the soul.
