Synopsis: The Mara Chronicles

A boy finds a journal hidden in a library that tells a story of a girl's abduction by aliens. It switches between the boy's world, the narrative of the journal, and the girl's experiences.

I know the picture is from the pixar short, Lifted, but it gives a good visual to what I intend to write.

Excerpt: The Mara Chronicles

A smooth swish of the door opening got Mara's attention fast. She sat bolt upright to see the door inside the guards room had slid aside to let someone through.
She almost cried with joy. It was another human like herself, a young man with a mop of brown hair and very worried eyes. Mara then saw his hands were restrained by a green band around his wrists, causing his hands to be folded together as if praying. He was being escorted by two other aliens. One had a gun like her own guards. The other was different, he was dressed in a white tunic and flowy white pants. A symbol was on his shoulder similar to the one on Mara's outfit, though his was more intricate.
They were leading him somewhere and at first, Mara hoped it was going to be her cell. She'd have a chance to escape finally. But it was not so. They headed somewhere next to her cell where she couldn't see around the corner. Mara had run up to the invisible wall and put her hands against it, trying to see all there was to see. She waved frantically to her fellow prisoner, but he seemed to not be able to see. There was a hissing sound as another door opened somewhere and the young man was put into another room around the corner from Mara where she couldn't see.
